Content Strategist

Known affectionately as "The Content Wrangler," Scott Abel is the Founder and CEO of The Content Wrangler, an international content strategy consultancy specializing in helping content-heavy organizations improve the way they author, maintain, publish and archive their information assets. Scott's goal is to help them deliver the right information, to the right people, at the right time, in the right format and language, and on the device of the content consumers' choice.

The Content Wrangler hosts content industry events, including Content Strategy Applied USA and its sister event held semi-annually in the European Union. Scott also serves as host of the content management track at LocalizationWorldWide (three annual events) and is co-founder and program manager for Information Development World (with global content strategy maven, Val Swisher). He produces several events of interest for technical communication pros, including Technical Documentation Roundup. Along with enterprise content strategy guru Ann Rockley, Scott created the Intelligent Content Conference, an annual event the two content strategists sold to Content Marketing Institute in 2014.

Scott is a founding member of Content Management Professionals and writes regularly for content industry publications, including a column in the Society for Technical Communication magazine, Intercom, called "Meet the Change Agents."

Scott hosts a popular series of free, educational webinars on The Content Wrangler Channel on BrightTALK and is co-host of two twice-monthly talk shows, Coffee and Content (co-hosted with Patrick Bosek, CEO of Jorsek, Inc, makers of easyDITA) and The Content Advantage (co-hosted with Megan Gilhooly, vice president of Customer Experience at Zoomin Software).

Scott's company produces The Content Wrangler Series of Content Strategy Books, a series of twelve books, the most recent of which is "Voice and Tone Strategy: Connecting With People Through Content" by John Caldwell. The series also includes several books in which Scott collaborated with 52 experts to define the vocabulary and explain the terms of importance to professional information management teams surrounding technical communication, localization, content strategy, and cybersecurity.

Scott enjoys sharing knowledge with others and has served as a lecturer at The Center for Next Generation Teaching and Learning at the University of California Berkeley, School of Information.

Scott is also an internationally recognized content strategist and vibrant keynote speaker. He's participated in dozens of content industry events around the world, including the Society for Technical Communication Summit, Content Marketing World, tcworld India, TechComm NZ, Adobe DITAWorld, Translation Automation User Society, Technical Communication UK, FrameMaker Chautauqua, SDL Connect, LavaCon, Institute of Scientific and Technical Communicators UK, and DocTrain.

Scott's alter ego, The Audio Wrangler, is a popular DJ and dance music mashup artist.
