Web Marketing Association

This month marks the 50th issue of Interactive Briefing, the newsletter of the Web Marketing Association. We hope that we have created an easy to read update on what is happening at the WMA and in the world of Web development.

IAC Awards

We are getting ready to start judging the 7th annual Internet Advertising Competition (IAC) Awards. If you have entered this year, please take a moment to log in to your nominator account and check that your entry is marked "approved" and that the URL that you provided is working correctly. After Friday, the nominator accounts will be locked and entry edits will not be accepted.

Judges will receive their 2009 judge's instructions on Monday February 16 and the judging will be officially underway.

If you still would like to submit an entry or need to complete payment of your entry fees, please do so by the final deadline of Friday February 13th so you can be included in the judging.

The competition web site is located at www.iacaward.org.

WMA Joins Social Media Revolution

Social networks allow many people with a shared interest to come together and share ideas or just stay in touch. While we had set-up a LinkedIn Web Marketing Association Group some time ago, we have not been active in promoting the group or encouraging discussions.

More recently, we created a Web Marketing Association Facebook Group to bring people together in the industry.

How can you help?

First off please join either or both groups. Corporate filter and over full inboxes have made email less reliable for knowing when our award programs will begin. We use these networks to keep everyone in touch with what is going on with the Web Marketing Association and our award programs.

Secondly, participate in discussions or begin new ones. A lot of talented individuals belong to the WMA and we can all benefit by sharing information, trends and ideas.

Finally, we are looking for a few volunteers that can help us manage both groups. We are a volunteer organization and count on professionals to keep everything up and running. If you are active on Facebook or LinkedIn and are willing to become an administrator for one of the groups and help us keep it active, please email me through the group you wish to participate in.
