William Rice We have begun our count down to
the deadline for entering the 8th annual Internet Advertising Competition
Awards. Entries are starting to pour into each of the categories and this
year is shaping up to be our best competition ever! Here are some hints and
suggestions to make your entries effectively get to the judges.
Stand Alone Pages -
you do not have to create a separate page to enter a website,
microsite or landing page. Simply enter the URL. Stand alone pages are
needed for submitting a series of banner ads, email or integrated
campaigns so the judges have one URL to see all of the creative.
Selecting industries -
Often entries can fit into more than one industry category. If
you do not want to enter into multiple categories with multiple chances to
win, select the industry that you feel would help you best in your
marketing efforts if you won. For example, would your banking ads do
better in the "banking" category or "financial services"? Also consider
who else might be entering the categories. You might be competing against
investment firms as well as banks if you entered financial services in the
example above. Look at the new
categories - Online video and Mobile Applications have been added
this year as new media categories. First year categories usually have less
entries and are thus easier to win. Expanding campaigns -
If you are submitting a campaign, look at the individual pieces
of creative and see if any of them are strong enough to stand alone as en
entry. Check you URL -
Please check to make sure your creative URL is correct and
active. It's amazing how many entries each year get rejected by the judges
because they cannot access the creative. Make payments on time -
If you need to request a company check be sent, please do not
wait to enter on January 29, the entry deadline. Your entry can not be
sent to the judges until it is complete and that includes receiving the
payment. So plan ahead and order the check now. Bill Rice P.S. There is still time to enter the 2010 Internet Advertising Competition (IAC) Awards
- only three weeks away! The deadline for entry is January 29, 2010.
P.P.S. We are looking for
additional online marketing professionals who can serve as IAC Award
judges this year. If you think you have want it takes to be a judge,
please complete the Online Judges Nomination Form. WebAward Competition - The 2009 WebAward's winners are
