Volunteers are the lifeblood that makes the magic happen for any nonprofit – and during the holidays, many of them see a surge in interest. But for food banks, the work continues year-round—and the need only grows. Second Harvest of Silicon Valley faced a critical challenge: How do you inspire action during the busiest time of year while educating people that hunger doesn't take a holiday?
Infillion developed an interactive video campaign to deliver Second Harvest's message across desktop, mobile, tablet, and CTV, targeting San Francisco Bay Area zip codes and reaching adults 18-45 with philanthropic tendencies—people who have donated or are likely to donate. The experience opened with a compelling video showcasing the stark reality: In one of the wealthiest regions in the world, 1 in 6 neighbors depends on Second Harvest for food. Half are kids and seniors.
The interactive experience allowed users to explore Second Harvest's impact across four key pillars: People, Funds, Nutrition, and Giving. Each path revealed the stats behind each pillar—from the great financial needs of Second Harvest's clients, to the nutritious food that serves as the foundation of healthy communities.
The results proved that authenticity and interactivity drive real impact. With more than 3.3 million impressions, the campaign achieved a 90% video completion rate, exceeding the 80% benchmark by 12%. This demonstrated that users weren't just passively watching; they were genuinely engaged.
Together, Second Harvest and Infillion proved that with the right message, the right platform, and the right moment, digital advertising can transform compassion into action.
